We focus on weather conditions on both the Atlantic Ocean beaches and the bay beaches. We have a live ocean beach cam at Field 5 at Fletcher State Park. We cover traffic conditions to and from the ocean beaches and the Short Island Mall. We give detailed reports on ferry service, including service disruptions or delays. If you are going sailing, fishing, kayaking, or taking an excursion on a charter boat, you'll know if the sea conditions are favorable or not. You won't waste a trip to the shore only to learn that the ocean is rough and the bay is choppy.
Each day we report on the local news that matters most to you as a resident of Short Island. We cover issues of island-wide concern. On Tuesdays, we take a close look at people making a positive difference on Short Island. If someone is up to good, you'll know about it. We profile interesting people and places all over Short island. We take an in-depth look at the work that charitable organizations are doing on the island and how they are making the island a better place for all. We also let you know about upcoming charitable events and how to attain admission tickets.
On Wednesdays, we start to turn our attention towards the weekend. We offer in-depth reviews of several local restaurants. We always vary the cuisine that we review. We don't just review pricey gourmet restaurants. Whether you like Italian, Chinese, Indian, steak, fish, chicken, burgers, or vegetarian -- we take a look at all types of restaurant cuisine from a wide variety of price points. We also take a look at what's happening in the arts. If there is an antique show, a new play, a recital, or an art show, you'll get the full details.
On Thursdays, we preview all the new movies that are premiering on Friday in local theatres. We rate the movies not only on their acting quality, visual appeal, and story line, but also on the level of appropriateness for the intended audience. We'll tell you what movies are good (or bad) for your kids to see and what age group is appropriate for each movie. If you're going out on a date, we always feature several picks for date movies. If you're not going out, but would rather stay home, we also cover our top picks from among the new DVD movie releases for that week.
On Fridays, we cover what's happening at the Short Island Mall this coming weekend. We'll tell you what stores are having sales and what is on sale. If the weather turns bad, you can always head to the Short Island Mall for indoor fun. You can head to the multiplex theatre, the restaurants, the cafes, bookstores, coffee houses, and food courts. We also give you concert and ticket information for the adjacent Short Island Mall Concert Theatre. In the summer months, we give you our beach and boating updates. We also give you the latest news on events that are going on in all the parks on Short Island.
