The Eastern Penn Women's Soccer League nears the end of the season with
Riversburgh College on top of the standings. Coming off their 4-3 overtime win
against their arch-rival, Sallerton College, the Riversburgh team has earned a playoff
berth for Divisional play for the third year in a row. Led by Shakira
Jones and Tammy Waynes, the Riversburgh Cardinals have now won five games in a
row and nine of their last ten. Most of the Cardinals' games have been
low-scoring affairs, as the Riversburgh team knows how to play a tenacious
defense. Coach Jill Davies is to be congratulated for guiding the Cardinals to
the playoffs in her first season as head coach. No other Cardinals coach has
ever performed that feat.
