Site Sea-ers

Welcome to the Site Sea-ers Web site. We are a Seattle, Washington, organization that brings people together to share the love of our region's rivers, lakes, streams, ponds, and estuaries. We also organize formal excursions by cruiser from Seattle to several locales in and around Vancouver Island in British Columbia.

Membership

Membership is free to students in grades K-12. All others pay an annual fee of $50. Although Site Sea-ers plans events, members must, of course, pay for the expenses involved. We are not an organization for singles, although we do have numerous activities for singles to meet. Our primary mission is to encourage others to be aware of the wonderful habitat this area is comprised of and being socially conscious enough to rally to protect our environment from the dangers of pollution and overdevelopment.

Beyond enjoying and appreciating the unending pleasures of our local environment, Site Sea-ers also plays an active role in protecting the drinking water and open space in the greater Seattle area. We want to preserve and protect the beauty of this area so that it may be enjoyed for many generations to come.

Activities

Our activities are as varied as our membership. For the more adventurous at heart, we offer trips to engage in white-water rafting. You must be 18 or over to participate in these rafting adventures. For the less adventurous, we have sight-seeing tours of local rivers, streams, lakes, and ponds. Our biggest event of the year is our cruise on the Pacific Ocean to Vancouver Island. We will stay in the Vancouver area for 7 days and 6 nights. That time does not include travel time to Vancouver and the return trip back to Seattle. The Pacific cruise is usually held in June or July.

Fund Raising

Throughout the year, we engage in various fund-raising activities. The funds raised at these charity events are used to sponsor causes that protect the environment. Last year, Site Sea-ers bought over 40 acres of property on and near Sagg River, Washington. The purchase of this property prevented the site from being developed. In the prior year, our organization raised enough funds to pay for an environmental clean up of Haddie's Pond, which had been choked with algae as a result of chemical dumping into the pond.

Camping

For the first time, we are sponsoring a camping trip to Lake Garston, located north and east of Seattle. This will be a weekend trip. We'll camp along the banks of Lake Garston on Friday and Saturday nights. If you would like more information about this trip or Site Sea-ers in general, please contact us at:
